If you expect to do longer hours on your machine and you’re looking for faster cutting, a more powerful transmission and other features that are required for professional use, consider the Park Pro range.

The Park Pro 540 IX is fitted with a Honda GXV 660 Twin Cylinder engine - with a displacement of 688cc the engine develops 15.2kW. The high spec 4WD transmission system has a separate 10 litres per minute hydraulic pump delivering a full speed of 14km/h through the heavy duty Kanzaki transaxles to the large 17” front and rear wheels. The PTO clutch is electro-magnetically controlled; the fuel tank capacity is a massive 15 litres.

The machine is fitted with a single lever adjustable, high back comfort seat fitted onto parallel suspension, requiring no tools to adjust its position. This machine is offered with a large 125cm Combi Pro Electric Quick Flip cutting deck with electric height of cut adjustment from 25 to 90mm, that can be adjusted without leaving the seat.

The Park Pro 540 IX has hydraulic power steering and our new high clearance hydraulic implement lift for lifting the front cutting deck. A single LED headlight is fitted along with an hour meter to record working hours for servicing.

Imagine driving around your garden effortlessly creating a perfectly clipped healthy green lawn, no longer restricted to driving up and down in straight lines, scuffing up the ground by turning on the same areas and wasting fuel and time collecting grass clippings that will sit in an unsightly rotting pile at the bottom of your garden.

Imagine easily coping with soft wet ground conditions on a flat or sloping garden, manoeuvring quickly around all sorts of obstacles without worrying about your rear wheels dropping off the edge of the lawn or catching the back of your tractor on fences, trees or even your new greenhouse.

Imagine being able to trim under overhanging shrubs and into corners, because your Multiclip cutting deck is positioned at the front of the machine where you can always clearly see it and cuts the grass before your wheels have a chance to lay it flat.

Only a Stiga Park can provide you with such an enjoyable way to maintain and improve your lawn and paddock areas, turning this chore into a ‘Drive in the Park’.

Stiga’s unique articulated chassis design ensures that the rear wheels follow exactly in the path of the front cutting deck, because the chassis pivots at the centre point of the front and rear axles, leaving you free to concentrate on looking forward at the grass that you’re about to cut rather than worrying about the obstacles that you have just passed. The articulated chassis design also means that the simple and effective 4WD system eliminates any tyre scuffing on your lawn whilst turning, as well as ensuring excellent traction in wet conditions and on sloping ground.

Stiga have been building mowers since 1974 and all Stiga Parks are designed with functionality, reliability, comfort, quality and the environment in mind.

Built today for tomorrow, all models come with a 5 year Domestic Warranty or 1 year Commercial Warranty (Terms & Conditions apply).

The 5-star Dream Machine Review by Simon

I have owned lots of different front-cut ride-ons and this is the best by far.

Unlike some other makes of front cut mowers, Stiga's decks are properly out front so you can mow right underneath shrubs, benches, fences, etc. Also unlike some other makes, Stiga mulching mowers pulverise the clippings so thoroughly that they can't be seen, leaving a lawn looking immaculate.

But this 540 IX is exceptional, even by Stiga's standards. The twin cylinder Honda engine is the quietest I have found on any mower and the power steering is so light that I can steer with my little finger. And despite its power, the 4WD keeps the wheels turning on slopes and when switching between forward drive and reverse, so I get no skid marks to spoil the lawn.

For a veteran gardener like me, with my bad back, the extras on this machine are worth their weight in gold. The air suspension seat gives the smoothest, softest ride on my somewhat bumpy lawn and the armrests make it even more luxurious.

The control panel gives me fingertip height of cut adjustment from the comfort of my seat as well as complete control of my optional extras, Stiga's hydraulic Rear Tool Lift and the attached gravel rake-cum-scarifier. I have had a customised towbar extension fitted so that I can tow my Combi cart without removing the tool lift or rake, which is a boon for any gardener beyond his prime!

For the same reason, I wanted a mower whose deck I could clean without heavy work or drive belt removal - and the 540 IX delivers again as the deck tilts up to the cleaning position simply by releasing a couple of locking clips… perfect for hosing or pressure washing.

Among the many other features I like are the battery and fuel shut-off switches which make for very easy winter storage; and the light-sensitive headlight which comes on by itself, usually when I drive the mower into its dark storage shed.

To make this review credible, I had better include a couple of minor irritants. The digital display gives me all sorts of useful information including the hours worked, the blade speed, the battery condition and the temperature - but not the obviously useful fuel level. For that, I have to twist around or get off the mower to see the transparent fuel tank. So why not add this universally useful data? If something needs to go, the temperature read-out isn't really necessary.

Finally, I had to customise my towbar - with help from Stiga and my brilliant dealer, Godfrey's of Wokingham - to enable me to keep the lift tool and rake permanently attached. Why not offer an extended towbar as an optional extra?

These minor quibbles aside, I am convinced that there is not a better mower anywhere than my Stiga 540 IX.
